So I was shopping for sensible sedans (think Sonata or Fusion) and the keys to this pretty much fell in my lap. And now the Commonwealth of PA has seen fit to allow me to title and register it in my own name. This is roughly analogous to handing a Ziploc full of Sharpies to a toddler sitting in a formal living room and saying, “Now you be goooooood...”
I realize, of course, that this makes me the butt of the joke on multiple levels. To the general public, I’m the pasty middle-aged guy with the receding hairline who went out and bought a red sports car. To car enthusiasts, I’m that troll who insists that an M3 isn’t worth the money because V6 Mustang. (Not that I actually believe that, but the guy in the M3 next to me at the traffic light thinks I do.)
However, I’m finding it hard to be upset about any of this because at the end of the day, my new daily driver is a 300 horsepower Mustang convertible.

Congrats on the ride, ‘tis a sweet stang.
Nice writing as well, I had a good laugh. As a guy past his prime, I can appreciate it when one of my brethren buys a car that he’ passionate about.

I am awarding you points for getting what you like, regardless of what other people may think. My theory is that other people will get a say in what car I drive only when they are coughing up the money to buy a car for me (and that never happens). Nice car... I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoy my Mustang!

Welcome to da Mustang club my friend! It’s a sweet life. Too bad I had to put mine away for winter already!
Only october and all covered in snow. Canada be cold!
Mine is a 2010 with the 4.6L V8 stick shift. I love driving it, I wasn’t super sure living in Edmonton Alberta if I wanted a convertible, but they are really great in the summer times. I drove back from Dawson Creek BC with the top down and through Jasper Ab and all over. It was a great motoring summer. Now it’s sleeping until April 8th.

I lold. Nice ride though. I rented a new EcoBoost vert on vacation this year and it was a blast. I could really dig the whole convertible thing, if it could be used for more than a few months out of the year.

Nothing wrong with a car that makes you smile. A few years back I bought a used ‘06 convert with the fire-breathing 4.0 wheezemotor. That car’s only saving grace (besides the droptop) was the 5M trans. I would have enjoyed another 90hp from the 3.7 but there you are. That 3.7 makes the car worth owning.
